Uvita, Costa Rica
These mysterious stone spheres remain one of the greatest archaeological mysteries in Central America. Ancient civilizations were behind their creation, but why and how is a question that still puzzles us. There are many hypotheses about their purpose, but none of them has been conclusively proven. The perfectly shaped spherical stones of various sizes are said to be related to ancient knowledge, astral alignments and even energy fields.
Our journey through the jungle on Caño Island takes us to one of the few unspoiled places where you can see these mystical spheres where they were discovered. Unlike the stones that have been moved to museums, private collections or simply destroyed, these remain in their original location. They radiate an energy that many visitors describe as truly otherworldly. Some experience a peace that they cannot explain, while others report strange sensations or an overwhelming feeling of being transported back in time. It is a place where history and mystery coexist in nature, and all of this makes for an unforgettable memory.
Regardless of what this mystery really is, being in such untouched remnants of the past is a moment unlike any other. Here, deep in the jungle of the island, time seems to lose its edges for a brief moment, and you become part of a mystery that has lasted for centuries.
Caño Island Jungle Walking Tour typically begins at 6:45 AM with a return around 2:00 to 3:00 PM, depending on ocean conditions.
